About “IPEV”
The "Internet Professionals / Experts / Visionaries" group is based in Toronto and meets on the second* Tuesday of the month for the purpose of having an open discussion on Internet related trends, topics, and developments.
* If the second Monday is a holiday, we move to the third Tuesday.
Our meetings are reasonably informal; the standard open topic is "The Internet", but we frequently stray into other topics. Meetings are held in the evening over dinner and beverages at a local pub.
Membership in the group is free and open to anyone with something to say and who is willing to make a relevant contribution. The name of the group is intended to reflect the membership we hope to attract:
- Professionals who are actively and directly involved with Internet related work.
- Experts: people with specific Internet expertise, for example academics and legal experts dealing with Internet related issues.
- Visionaries: People who think about what the Internet means in a larger sociological, political, or technological context. Aside from a capability for creative thought, there are no specific qualifications for "visionary"; it's intended to be broad in scope.
The converse of this is that we would prefer not to attract people who are solely interested in the group as a source of unrelated business. If you are seeking a networking opportunity for products and services that are only vaguely related to the Internet, please consider some other group.
